Getting Around Hobart

From the Airport

Transport. From Hobart International Airport you can take the Metro Tasmania bus route 401 (or 601) which runs every 30 minutes and drops you in the CBD in about 20–25 minutes; a single adult fare is around AU$4.90. SkyBus Tasmania also operates a direct express service to the city centre for roughly AU$15‑$20 one‑way and takes about 20 minutes. Uber is available at the airport and local taxis can be booked via the Hobart Taxis app, while rideshare apps like DiDi are not currently operating there.

Once You're There

Transport. Hobart has no metro, subway or tram system; the public transport network consists of Metro Tasmania buses that cover the CBD and suburbs. The city centre is compact and very walkable, but for trips beyond the inner city most visitors use Uber or local taxi apps, and many rent a car to explore the surrounding countryside and attractions such as the Tasman Peninsula. Car rental is straightforward with major agencies at the airport, though it’s not essential if you stay within Hobart itself.
