Getting Around Tortuguero
From the Airport
Boat Transfer. Most visitors arrive via a combined van and boat transfer from San Jose or La Fortuna, which takes about 3-4 hours total and is pre-arranged by tour companies or lodges. Domestic Flight. Sansa Airlines operates small aircraft flights from San Jose (SJO) to the Tortuguero Airstrip, which takes about 25 minutes; you must then take a short boat taxi to the village.
