3 Days in Vancouver

Day 1

Parks, Beaches & Coastal Views

Stanley Park

Morning. Start your journey by heading straight to Stanley Park, the city's crown jewel. Rent a bicycle at a shop near Denman Street and spend the morning pedaling the 9-kilometer Seawall, which offers uninterrupted views of the Pacific Ocean and the North Shore mountains. Stop briefly at the Totem Poles to appreciate the Indigenous history before continuing your ride toward the iconic Lions Gate Bridge. Aim to arrive early, ideally by 9:00 AM, to beat the heavy tourist crowds and enjoy the tranquil forest trails. Once you finish your loop, cycle toward the nearby English Bay Beach to feel the sand between your toes.

Granville Island

Afternoon. After a morning of cycling, head over to the vibrant Granville Island. Take the small, colorful Aquabus across False Creek for a scenic and quick transit experience that provides great photo opportunities of the skyline. Once you land, dive headfirst into the Granville Island Public Market, where you can browse stalls filled with local produce, artisanal cheeses, and fresh baked goods. Spend your afternoon exploring the various artist studios and galleries tucked away in the industrial-style buildings. Don't forget to stop by the Net Loft for unique, locally-made gifts before grabbing a coffee to enjoy by the marina.

Coal Harbour

Evening. As the sun begins to set, make your way to the Coal Harbour neighborhood for a sophisticated evening. Walk along the waterfront promenade toward Canada Place, where you can admire the iconic 'five sails' architecture that defines the city's harbor profile. For dinner, secure a table at a waterfront restaurant to watch the seaplanes take off and land against the backdrop of the setting sun. After your meal, walk up to the Vancouver Lookout for a 360-degree panoramic view of the glowing city lights. It is the perfect way to cap off your first day while getting a sense of the city's geography.

Day 2

History, Culture & Urban Exploration

Gastown

Morning. Begin your second day in Gastown, Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, characterized by its charming cobblestone streets and Victorian architecture. Make sure to stop at the famous Steam Clock, which whistles and releases steam every quarter-hour, providing a quintessential photo opportunity. Wander through the many independent boutiques and interior design shops that line Water Street. If you have time, pop into a local art gallery to see works from Pacific Northwest artists. From here, it is a short walk to the edge of Chinatown, where you can transition into a completely different historical atmosphere.

Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden

Afternoon. Spend your afternoon immersing yourself in the serene beauty of the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden. This Ming Dynasty-style garden is the first of its kind built outside of China and offers a peaceful oasis amidst the busy city streets. After finding your zen, head toward the nearby Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia. The museum is world-famous for its massive collection of First Nations totem poles and stunning architecture designed by Arthur Erickson. Plan to spend at least two hours here to truly appreciate the depth of the exhibits and the dramatic cliffside setting overlooking the Strait of Georgia.

Yaletown

Evening. Return to the city center and spend your evening exploring the lively streets of Yaletown. Once a warehouse district, it has been transformed into one of the most stylish neighborhoods in Vancouver, filled with high-end restaurants and converted brick buildings. Walk along the seawall near the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre to see the remnants of the old railway tracks. Choose one of the many trendy eateries for dinner to experience the city's modern culinary scene. Finally, grab a craft cocktail at a local lounge to enjoy the vibrant nightlife that makes Yaletown a favorite for locals.

Day 3

Mountains, Forests & Heights

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

Morning. Dedicate your final morning to the awe-inspiring Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Arrive as soon as they open to avoid the mid-day bus tours, allowing you to walk across the 137-meter-long bridge in relative peace. The park also features the Treetops Adventure, a series of seven suspension bridges attached to massive Douglas firs, which provides a unique perspective of the rainforest canopy. After exploring the high-altitude walkways, head toward the Cliffwalk, a cantilevered structure that clings to the granite cliff face. It is an exhilarating experience that perfectly captures the wild nature of the North Shore mountains.

Queen Elizabeth Park

Afternoon. After returning from the forest, head to Queen Elizabeth Park, the highest point in the city. Walk through the beautifully manicured Quarry Gardens and visit the Bloedel Conservatory, a domed tropical paradise filled with exotic plants and free-flying birds. The park offers some of the most spectacular views of the Vancouver skyline with the mountains looming in the background. It is a fantastic spot for a picnic if the weather is clear, or simply a place to relax and reflect on your trip. From there, take a quick transit ride back toward the central city area to prepare for your final evening.

Grouse Mountain

Evening. For your final evening, head to the base of Grouse Mountain for a short, scenic drive or bus ride. Take the Skyride aerial tramway to the summit, where you will be rewarded with a breathtaking sunset view over the entire Lower Mainland. Spend your final hours enjoying the alpine atmosphere, perhaps visiting the resident grizzly bears at the wildlife refuge or just breathing in the crisp mountain air. Have a casual mountain-top dinner before descending back to the city lights below. It is the ultimate Vancouver send-off, combining high-altitude views with the rugged natural beauty that defines the region.
