Getting Around Rome
From the Airport
Transport. The main international gateway is Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO); the fastest link to central Rome is the Leonardo Express non‑stop train to Termini station (≈32 min, €14). Regional FL1 trains also run to Trastevere, Ostiense and Tiburtina for about €8 and 45 min. Bus operators such as Terravision and SIT Bus Shuttle cost €5‑6 and take 45‑60 min. Uber operates in Rome (UberX/Black) and the local Free Now app can summon licensed taxis, which have a fixed €48 fare to the city centre.
Once You're There
Transport. Rome’s public transport includes Metro Lines A, B (and the partially open C), an extensive tram network (e.g., T1, T3) and frequent ATAC buses, all useful for reaching major sights. The historic centre is highly walkable, so many attractions are just a short stroll apart. For longer trips or luggage, rideshare apps like Uber and Free Now are common, while car rental is generally discouraged because of traffic, limited parking and ZTL (limited‑traffic) zones.
