Getting Around Guayaquil
From the Airport
Transport. From José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport (GYE) you can take the Aeropuerto Express bus, which runs every 15‑20 minutes to the city center (Plaza de la Independencia) in about 30‑40 minutes and costs roughly $0.50‑$1.00; there is no train or dedicated airport express rail. Taxis are readily available outside arrivals, and rides‑hailing apps such as Uber and Cabify operate at the airport, with fares starting around $8‑$12 to downtown.
Once You're There
Transport. Guayaquil does not have a metro or tram, but the Ecovía BRT system (two lines) provides fast service across major corridors, and the historic downtown is fairly walkable for short distances.
